Chantecler Chickens
This is the ultimate breed for anyone living in a cold climate! The Chantecler is a dual-purpose heritage breed that originates from Canada. Developed by Brother Wilfrid Châtelain, the Chantecler was created to be a hardy breed that could withstand the harsh Canadian climate. The Chantecler has a very small cushion comb and small wattles, which allows them to survive the extreme Canadian winters without the frostbite issues that other breeds struggle with, even without supplemental heating.
The Chantecler chicken is a good producer of pinkish-brown eggs and can lay up to 200 eggs per year. They are also great meat birds, with a plump and tender meat. Chantecler chickens are known for their calm and friendly disposition, making them great pets for families with children. These traits make the Chantecler breed an ideal choice for homesteaders and small farmers who want a breed that can provide both meat and eggs for their families. Chantecler come in white, partridge and also buff. We raise white Chantecler.
