Norwegian Jaerhon

The Norwegian Jaerhon chicken is a hardy and active breed that originated in Norway. They are known for their ability to withstand cold weather and are well adapted to outdoor living, though the large single comb in roosters can be susceptible to frostbite. Norwegian Jaerhons are smaller birds that lay a surprisingly large sized white egg. They are sexable at hatch, with the males being a greyish color with a light head and the females being brown with a white spot on their heads. They are excellent foragers and, with their smaller size, are a great breed for people looking for a feed-thrifty breed of chicken. They are excellent flyers and can be escape artists..
